Hasan Shah Suri's fort Sasaram

Another monument of Sasaram is about to meet its maker. situated at the middle of the vegetable market qila mohalla. The front portion of the fort functions as a garbage dump along with open-air urinals. Locals use the interior for drinking alcohol and playing cards. Towards the back of the fort, there is a large hall and some rooms which are used for selling vegetables.

This fort has been the ancestral residence of the emperor of the Suri dynasty. It is the only Fort of Pathan architecture in the country. here Sher Shah Suri as well as his son Salim Shah, who sat on the throne of Delhi, also had a childhood.

It was built in 1498 by Hasan Shah Suri (Father of Sher Shah Suri). many parts of the fort have been destroyed and the rest of the fort is also on the verge of demolition. Thanks to the government and the great indian apathy.

This fort is a unique specimen of Pathan architecture, the fort is three-storeyed.

There is a large courtyard in the middle and a corridor all around. The doors in all four directions have grand carvings of red and blue.

neither the archaeological survey India nor the department of art and culture of the state government has been able to take this fort under their control.
